New Schoolin' and Getting Active

Online schooling starts this week from the kids’ schools.

Princess had her first online class today. It sounded very interesting from the other room… at least there was a lot of talking and a lot of laughter. Which I’m going to assume are good things. Gamer Boy and Angel Face get back to things on Wednesday, with quick set up calls happening tomorrow with some of the teachers.

Piano and singing lessons have already transitioned to online with Zoom, and through Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and websites, dance classes are launching in earnest this week as well. And there are a number of online tours (zoo’s, museums, etc) that I’m looking forward to doing [you know, with the kids] over the next couple weeks too.

What are some online tools you’ve already taken advantage of during your social distancing, self-isolation, quarantine time? What are some that you’re looking forward to taking advantage of in the coming weeks?

Remember I promised some Corner Table Kitchen Adventures?

So far, our menus have been pretty simple. Princess made a very nice, and tasty stove-top macaroni and cheese dish with diced ham her first night up to the stove. Angel Face got a little creative and came up with a sort-of lazy chicken lasagna – I’ll admit I was a little leery but it turned out pretty good actually. And Gamer Boy delighted us with a simple pasta dish with ground beef that everyone devoured, Little Prince included, and followed it up with his favourite meal tonight: tacos. He even made the taco seasoning from scratch instead of using those handy little packets I usually have in stock!

So, the every body cooks deal – it’s going really well actually. Yay.

And I’m happy to report that we’re doing what we can to ensure that all this awesome food doesn’t turn us all into chunky monkeys. Today while Heli Dad was doing a grocery and parts run for Grandma and Grandpa since they are in actual isolation after returning from an out-of-country vacation, the kids and I went for a walk around our neighbourhood. The fresh air was nice, the exercise was good for all of us, but I’ll be honest, the change of scenery was probably the best part for the 4 munchkins.

Now neighbourhood walks are great and all, but what else have you found to keep yourself and your minis active while you’re all stuck at home??
